Juror's Workshop with Jeanette Le Grue
Painting the Landscape en Plein Air

May 21 - 23, 2012 9-4pm

Workshops are one of the best ways to make progress in the craft of painting on location. Learning the basic principles and disciplines of outdoor painting will help the plein air artist learn and grow. Artists need to establish a firm foundation in order to be able to express their own unique vision effectively -- without it, one could spend years getting through what should be available at the beginning!

All workshops are limited to 12 students. Students will be painting in the open fields and rolling hills of rural areas surrounding Wayne, Pennsylvania. Daily demonstrations will emphasize identifying the abstract design of the landscape. The group will be painting 'all prima' (wet on wet) using a direct approach. The practice of seeing the big shapes and recognizing the relationships of grays to color and color harmony, aka the F.I.S.H. School of Color is a key part of the instruction.

Each day starts with a demo, after which students paint and put into practice what they have learned. Ms. LeGrue works individually with each student, and everyone gets plenty of attention!

Beginners to advanced are welcome.
